2012 is a big year for us. Not only is it the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics in London, Watford North also celebrates its 40th anniversary this year!
And so we are holding a District Camp, with each Group camping as a Subcamp. The weekend, 22nd-24th June, is open to all Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network, Leaders and Helpers – and Beavers are invited for the day on Saturday.

Watford North Scout District is holding a Curry Night in support Hertfordshire Scouts Capital Appeal and Lees Wood.
The Curry Night will be held at the award-winning Forest of India in Abbots Langley on Tuesday 13th March.
The meal will cost £15 per head, and will include a starter, main and side dish (vegetarian and non-Indian alternatives are also available). Menus will be sent out once you have booked.

Congratulations to the 3rd North Watford and the 9th North Watford for achieving the highest number of Lottery ticket sales in the County for the first six months of the Lottery.
Nearly 850 sales have now been made to date but we still need more.

In aid of the Capital Appeal and Lees Wood, Watford North District are holding a relay sponsored swim event. This will be held at Watford Central Leisure Centre.

The Watford North Scout District AGM will be held on Thursday 9th June at the 4th North Watford HQ (The Snicket, Black Boy Wood, Bricket Wood).
There will be a talk on the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden this summer, presentations and the raffle draw.
All involved in Scouting in Watford North are encouraged to attend.

Watford North held its annual St George’s Day Parade on Sunday 17th April. Several hundred Beavers, Cubs and Scouts attended the Parade and service, and the service this year was provided by the 1st North Watford Scout Group and focused on “team work”.

Each year, Scouts in Watford North take part in the Night Owls competition, involving orienteering and night-time exercises and bases. This year, along with the more traditional scouting bases of tent pitching (but blindfolded), building a tower, tying a clove hitch (but around a tree) and cooking twists over an open fire, one base even included sewing on a button!
