Could you be the reason a child walks into their first Scouts meeting? The reason they make their best friend, discover a talent they never knew they had, or find the confidence that changes the course of their life?
Right now, we’re looking for volunteers and every single person who joins us unlocks something incredible. One new volunteer means four Squirrels finally get their place. Or six Beavers. Eight Cubs. Twelve Scouts. These aren’t just numbers. They’re young people who’ve been waiting for someone exactly like you.
You don’t need to be Dwayne Fields.
Seriously. We’re not looking for survival experts or outdoor enthusiasts (though you’re very welcome if you are). We’re looking for people. People from every walk of life, every background, every age. Students who want to build skills and boost their CV. Parents who want to spend more quality time with their children. Retirees with a lifetime of experience to share. Professionals looking for something more meaningful after 5pm.
Whatever you bring to the table, we want it. And whatever time you can spare — whether that’s a few hours a month or a few evenings a week — we’ll make it count.
More than just giving back.
Here’s the thing about volunteering with Scouts: you get more out than you put in. That’s not just something we say — it’s something every single one of our volunteers will tell you. You’ll pick up new skills, build genuine friendships, and be part of a community that genuinely has your back. Most importantly, you’ll make memories that stay with you for life.
The young people you work with will surprise you, challenge you, and — more often than not — make you laugh until your sides hurt. That’s the part nobody warns you about.
What happens when you volunteer?
We make it as easy as possible to get started. There’s no pressure, no steep learning curve, and no prior experience needed. Here’s exactly what to expect:
- An informal chat first. This isn’t a formal interview — it’s just a relaxed conversation so we can get to know each other. No suits required.
- Full training, completely free. We’ll give you everything you need to feel confident and prepared. You just have to show up.
- A free Enhanced DBS check. Every volunteer goes through our vetting process at no cost to you. Please note, we’re unable to accept DBS checks from other organisations — but don’t worry, we sort it all for you.
Our door is open to everyone.
We are proudly open to volunteers of all ages, genders, races, and backgrounds. The more diverse our volunteer team, the richer the experience we can offer young people, and that matters enormously to us. If you’ve ever thought “that sounds like something I’d love to do,” then it probably is. The only thing standing between you and the best decision you’ll make this year is hitting that button below.
Make a difference. Change a life. Volunteer today.
